Details of services:
We meet for worship in Bancroft's School Chapel every Sunday morning from 11am
to approximately 12noon. Visitors are welcome to join us for tea or coffee after
the service in the school.
Our Sunday morning services are led by
visiting preachers from the Anglican, Baptist, Congregational, Methodist, Roman
Catholic and United Reformed Church, as well as the Moravian and Pentecostal
Churches, The Salvation Army,

The style of worship in our services may, therefore, vary from week to

About some of this quarter's preachers
Revd John Edwards has
been a close friend of the fellowship since before the birth of WWEC.
John was for many years the Minister of Wanstead URC. He currently gives
pastoral support to the Christian Education Project workers (Redbridge Schools)
and is active in the local Peace and Justice movement, working with leaders from
all faiths. He was inducted as our third pastoral minister in December
2007.
Revd
Jill Stephens is President of
the Congregation Federation for 2009/10. Formerly a Primary School Teacher, she
is minister at Berkeley, Longney and North Nibley churches, Gloucester. She was appointed as a Church Support Worker for SW Area Congregational
Federation in 1997. This
is her first visit to WWEC.
Revd
Dr. Stephen Heap visited us
first in 1995 when he was one of the Chaplains for Higher Education in London
University. He was later one of 11 staff, 5 of them clergy, at an ecumenical
city-centre church in
Milton Keynes
. In 2008 he became the
Ecumenical Co-ordinating Chaplain to the University of Bedfordshire and Director
of Bedfordshire Ecumenical Lay Institute of Education.
Mr. Colin Kemp is
Head of Legacies at Christian Aid. This
is his first visit to WWEC.
Revd
Paul Harcourt formerly curate, now Vicar of All Saints Woodford Green, has
led our worship several times since 1997.
Major
Judith Schultz is the Salvation Army’s Industrial and Community chaplain.
Her first visit to WWEC was in 2007.
Dr.
Keith White is Director of Mill Grove, a children’s and community centre,
where he and his wife Ruth and a team of staff, in addition to running the
centre, host local Christian Groups’ meetings, including a lunchtime Forum for
local Church leaders. He is an Associate Lecturer at Spurgeon’s College, and
Chair of The Child Theology Movement. His
first visit to WWEC was in September 1999. Keith
has presented us with a Family Bible which he has developed.
Revd
John Richardson
first came to us in 1985. He was Anglican Chaplain to the
University
of
East London
and, after a period as Assistant Minister at
St. John’s
Church, Stratford East he moved to share ministry in the Anglican Churches of Henham,
Elsenham and Ugley, in
Essex. He is the author of several religious books.
Revd
John Parker was first introduced to WWEC by the Rector of St.Helen’s
Bishopsgate, Revd Dick Lucas, in 1983 and he has been preaching here regularly
ever since. ( Over 100 times beginning in April 1983). He preceded Revd Carol McCarthy as Pastoral Minister
of WWEC from 1991-1994. John is now Minister Emeritus at Silver End Congregational Church. John was a banker by profession
before ordination and long service in the Congregational Church, in which he
rose to be President of the Federation.
Revd.
Ian Richardson calls himself an “Anglican/Baptist” so he’s sure to
feel at home
with us! He was active in programmes
for the unemployed at
Hertford
Regional
College, and has been Manager of another project, “Access to Employment and Training”
which has helped over 1000 people into work in past 5 years.
Revd
Dr.Janet Wootton was previously Minister at churches in
East Anglia
and, later, at Union Chapel, Islington, and is now Director of Studies for the
Congregational Federation. She has served as
Moderator of the International Congregational Fellowship and as President
of the Congregational Federation. She was founder co-chair of the International
Congregational Theological Commission, and is editor of the
International Congregational Journal. Janet is
also on the editorial team for the Feminist
Theology Journal, and has been involved in the production of various hymn
resources. At the end of 2003 she took up the post of Director of Studies for
the Integrated Training Course of the Congregational Federation, on which she
had been tutor of Old Testament and Biblical Languages for some years.
She worships at Bunyan Meeting a joint Congregational/Baptist Church in Bedford
.
